CANASTA TYPE LETTUCE

The Canasta Lettuce is derived from the crossing of the Red Batavia variety with the Iceberg variety and has roughly triangular, green leaves that are streaked with red and which, being broad at the top, taper to a stalk on the juncture to the plant, leaving the heart of the latter semi-open. Its leaves are thick and strong and have a sweet flavor. It is used to make excellent salads. Excellent resistance to condiments.
