BATAVIA TYPE LETTUCE

Batavia lettuce has roughly triangular, green or red leaves which, being broad at the top, taper to a stalk in the juncture to the plant, leaving the heart of the latter semi-open. Having thick leaves with a sweet flavor, this variety is used to make excellent salads. It has a rustic nature and is resistant to diseases. It can be grown for the most part of the year.
