ICEBERG LETTUCE
Formed around the end of 1800 in California, this variety has resistant, pulpy, and crisp leaves that form a very tight heart. Their name derives from the fact that transporting them over the long distances that separate California from other U.S. cities, required the cases with this variety to be covered with crushed ice, hence the name "iceberg". Today, this lettuce is still the most widespread in the Americas. It is very resistant to transportation and also to condiments in cuisine. The sweet taste is fresh and very crisp. It can be cultivated all year round.
